We're Breaking In To Online Sales!

No joke, friends! We're working behind the scenes to set up an Online Store for the Scarlet Onagers items you know and love. Help support the Onagers yet another way.

To show your support for the Scarlet Onagers, you can currently do any of the following actions:

Why Online Stores?

We're really working hard to maintain & update our inventory, supplies, equipment, and of course: volunteer meals & snacks! Hopefully, this online store will take off and allow us to get everyone's costume accessories to them well before Faire!

Of course, online shopping does mean paying shipping & handling charges. To avoid these come see us at Faire, or contact us about how to volunteer with the Scarlet Onagers Guild!

Items of Our Vending Booth

The Scarlet Onagers are always looking to add items to our vending booth. The vending booth gives space to Scarlet Onager members and volunteers for little to no commision, and gives space to any local crafty-persons and artists for a slightly higher commission. If you're interested in adding your items to our booth, message us on facebook or send an email to: ScarletOnagersGuild@gmail.com

What We Sell

Every year our inventory changes depending on inventory brought in by Guild Members. There are quite a few returning items that help us shape the feel of our shop. We try to remain a kid friendly booth in item and price, but also do our best to have products for all ages and personalities. We also sell some select pieces on the Scarlet Onager's Etsy Store. Check out the blog post about our online shop!

Accessories!

We have sturdy skeleton keys that remove bottle caps, and a variety of fabric pouches to hold all of your goodies. We have incense holders shaped as bottles with great designs etched into them.

For the Littles!

Various colors get mixed in to molds to create coloring sticks. These have various shapes, but the returning favorites are a skull and crossbones coloring blocks, and an easy to hold triangle for toddlers learning how to hold while they color.

Another fun favorite are our Alchemy ingredients. Stop by for dragon blood, ogre ear wax, goblin guts, and all of your alchemy needs! Each bit of slimy alchemic paste comes in either small resealable pouches or a few ounces in a jar. Grab multiple to share with friends, or to mix together and see what colors they turn.

We also have various jewelry that fit little ones as well!

Jewelry

Our jewelry takes many forms from microbeads in colorful patterns to chainmaille, gear charms, and tiny bottles on a simple necklace. We also have a small assortment of earrings and keychains, and leather bracelets as well. Our chainmaille necklaces and bracelets are made from standard aluminum or sturdy and heavy steel.

Some years we have simple stone wrap necklaces, but even if they don't appear in our booth, we can direct you to the vendor that has them. Similarly, fine jewelry is not our specialty, but we can help you find the vendor who makes amazing high end jewelry.

Hopes For More!

We often reach out to those we see with similarly bazaar goods, but feel free to reach out to us as well. We'd love to add kid friendly art prints, alchemy related goods and toys, a variety of costume accessories, and more kid-friendly jewelry.

We also want our friends to succeed. If you're not sure your inventory will sell, reach out to us and we'll see how we can help. Volunteer with us and we'll set aside a place for some of your inventory in our booth. If it's a hit and you can scale it to fill a whole booth, we'll talk you through how to do just that for the next year. We want our group to grow, but also the Faire as a whole to be a growing place for all of us odd ducks and misfits to gather every year.

Join the Onagers, or at least, join in the fun of Faire!

What Do We Do?

The Scarlet Onagers are a group of volunteers who perform various tasks that assist the Canterbury Renaissance Faire of Silverton, Oregon.

Before the two busy weekends every July, Onagers have assisted with landscaping, setting boundaries, and similar preparation work. Once Faire begins, though, so does the real fun.

The friday before the first day Canterbury Renaissance Faire, we set up our camping tents, set up our vending tent, and assist vendors and other participants with their camp sites and store fronts. During Faire, we assist with crowd control, emergency response, traffic, vendor setup and breakdown traffic, and barrier maintenance. We also assist with lost and found items, as well as reuniting little ones with their adults if they wander off.

Want to Help Out?

Well, what do you want to do? We have lots of people to help out, but always appreciate more. The more people we have, the easier and faster tasks are completed and the more breaks we all get to enjoy the Faire, and hang out with participants after Faire hours.

Tasks that are easy to jump right into include sales in the vending tent, trash removal, parking, ticket taking, and refilling drinking water jugs. The more you get to know the layout and flow of Faire, the more you can jump in with us for crowd control, emergency response, and other things that come over the air as in need of assistance.

Vending Sales

Our guild has a vending tent that sells children's goods, costume accessories, simple jewelry, and various crafty and artistic pieces. These goods assist us in covering the costs of attending Faire, keeping up supplies and providing food for our Guild Members. We use a simple register system to accept cash and cards that also keeps track of our sales.

We also accept local artists' and guild members' items for a small agreed upon commission. If you volunteer with us for the Faire, we'll lower or even waive the commision fees for any goods you create. You get a place to sell your inventory or try out a new product, and we'll even help you assess cost to profit ratios to make sure you make money of each of your items that sells.

Parking

For the last several years, the Scarlet Onagers have organized parking for Canterbury Faire. A couple of us can do this job solo, but it is more efficiently done with three people. This is a great way to jump into our group, help for a few hours in the morning, and wander around the Faire as an "on call" volunteer for the rest of the day.

Trash Removal & Drinking Water Jugs

As a Faire, there is a lot of recycling and trash to collect, and also provided drinking water jugs need to be refilled to keep people cool and hydrated. Both of these jobs keep you moving in small bursts, but they are often done in pairs so that no one gets to tired. This is another simple tasks to check off your volunteer hours, but have plenty of time to wander around Faire enjoying the vending booths and entertainer's shows.
